Sheffski attends several races throughout the year which is a great opportunity for both racers and spectators to compete against the other Unis! We take racing seriously (with our successful 1st team) but not too seriously (with our successful banter and fancy dress)! We are hoping to have a total of 4 mixed teams this year, along with a girls team, allowing as many people to compete as possible, dominating both the racing and the fancy dress!

The Kings races happen throughout the year and we also attend the British University Dryslope Champs (BUDS) and the Kings Finals in May: 2 weekends you CAN’T miss out on!

Training sessions are every Friday at the Sheffield slope and are open to both racers and non racers alike. We’ll have a coach on hand to help you get to grips with the gates or to start knocking seconds off your time. There are also some Castleford snowdome trips planned for the occasional Monday night (race training with gates with the Lions Ski Club). We hold a race trials at the start of the year (14th October) so whether you’ve raced for years or just fancy having a go come along and we’ll. see what you’re made of!

Kings
Held by Kings Ski Club, this is team slalom relay racing against other unis on a Saturday afternoon/night, with mixed teams of 5 (at least 1 girl per team) and a girls team of 4. We’re in the northern league, so pretty much all the unis from us and Manchester up to Newcastle.
Round 1: Sat 22nd Oct (Rossendale)
Round 2: Sat 5th Nov   (Sheffield)
Round 3: Sat 3rd Dec   (Sheffield)
Round 4: Sat 4th Feb   (Sheffield)
Finals:    Sat 28th Apr  (Brentwood) – we normally make a weekend of finals so keep the weekend clear!

BUDS (British University Dry Slope championships)
This is a bit of an epic weekend up to Edinburgh, with racing and freestyle events on Friday and Saturday. We usually take a coach up with plenty of Sheffski supporters too. Friday night is a club night and then a ball on Saturday. Slalom individual race Friday daytime, giant slalom individual race and a team relay Saturday.

A week of alpine events in a real alpine resort! Unfortunately the dates for this year are during term time (the last week before easter) but the plan is for some of us to go anyway…
